花一整個週末與所愛的人逛個街, 吃個飯, 聊個天... 很幸福.
並沒有談戀愛啦. 只是發現上班以後的我還滿期待與大家懶洋洋的聚集在一起.
最近練琴練得滿有心得的, 比較少跳舞, which sucks, but on the other hand it's actually a good thing to take a break from the partnership in order to feel more of a sense of improvement or de-provement when back together again, or else you kinda just get used practice, like it's routine, you know what I'm sayin?
Oh and I applied for a SCENE card in prep for Harry Potter... hahaha!

Seemed to have fixed the buggies, but we'll see as we go along.
I'm actually more than excited to have the long weekend roll in. Hooray for breaks and lots of gatherings! Food's always good. Facebook magic is wearing off. I need to figure out what benefits to choose, which programs to enroll in. My real first 2 hours of work (didn't get laptop till end of day) was alright, finally feel like i started working! Lots to figure out, and we haven't even gotten to the technical part. Just the amount of IDs I needed to get, the automated forms to fill and emails to send was just ridiculous.
But! So far, so good!

Anyways, first day of work wasn't all that interesting cuz it was more orientationing with the team. Lots of competitive spirit out there so it turns out I'm a really quiet one =) I think works gonna keep me quite busy!

如果我說工作是一種幸福, 相信很多人能夠了解這種感覺吧. 其實能夠賺錢, 能夠同心協力貢獻點什麼, 能夠擁有穩定的生活, 都加給生命一些存在的意義. 反正還沒有正式開始所以可以先說一些偉大的話, 不過明天正式開始起跑個兩個禮拜, 兩個月後我們再來看看還有沒有同樣的說法.

天阿, 最近做這個 research... all confused now!!
I dunno if I care more about the weight of my laptop or hard drive size or sys memory and how to weigh it out in terms of how much these things cost. And IBMs are usually ugly man... but look at the price of Sony!! Gees...
I'm thinking about IBM ThinkPad T42 and R51, Sony B100, and Toshiba... well... there are too many for Toshiba, not sure how to choose!! Satellite A or M or P series? Tecra?
Gosh someone please advise...
Specs I'm lookin' at:
- Pentium 4-M
- 512 MB to 1 GB
- 64 MB graphics
- 14.1 and above inch screen
- lasting battery life
- internal optical drives
- 40-80 GB hard drive
- wireless, USB, maybe CF slots and PC card slots

I didn't know you couldn't select songs urself,
didn't know that I could write song titles instead of the numbers,
didn't know that it was as embarassing as I thought it would be,
even though our song selection was most male

但是他很多的歌 聽起來 唱起來 都好有味道.
例如現在正在播放的 五月的雪
看他的 MTV, 並沒有很特別,
lyrics 寫得很棒, 但是什麼超特別的詩句...
但我每次聽到這首歌, 就有種酸酸的感覺...
歌詞並不貼切 也沒有特別意義,
但就會讓我陶醉在他的歌聲當中,
感受到他唱時的情感.

An English post today!
So I walked in and walked back out, not completely satisfied my performance, but overall, it was acceptable. Somehow, after routinely goofing off, my standards for performance have hit some kinda threshold I think - i scanned vocab, scanned grammar, made sure I knew what to use in what situation, but didn't memorize the stuff. YAY, well we can all imagine the scenerio during the exam, "OMG I've seen that on the 15th page of my notes but what EXACTLY did it say?" Anyway, excuse my sarcasm, just not too fond of myself.
It's a sunny day outside, but MAN what's up with the wind?
Tomorrow's exam is 5% of my grade cuz it's a lab course and I finished all 4 of my presentations already... looks like I have some time to take a breather...
Gonna get me some 海南雞飯 bah!
Oh did I mention my technical writing is 2 assignments behind? ><

雖然擁擠的 Starbucks 雜音很多
不過頭腦能夠控制耳朵把一些聲音當作背景 只有聽想聽的
對我來說 那是一個很容易 focus 有不容易睡著的地方
我今天聽了些 radio 中的 music
聽見了隔壁桌小孩的聲音
也聽到了人家跟我說話
還有親切的服務人員 問候每一位去買咖啡的人
雖然今天是個下雨天
還是能夠在音樂中過青天般的日子...

What I took away:
- modeling ain't the easiest job in the world.
- looping light is just as useful as looping in CS.
- reversed triangles do the trick - search EVERY portrait photo!
- rims of light give all individuals a Lion King look.

Usually we pour in cold water to cool off a big, hot, summer day, sipping tea and watching "futbol."
Lovely water container with lovely cup called a "guampa." Its straw has a special filter at one end to prevent the tea leaves from being sipped into the mouth.

So, Paraguay isn't a place of much entertainment.
It's definitely not filled with Chinese people either, unlike Vancouver.
So what do Chinese kids usually do here on Sunday mornings?
- Sleep, 顧店, or go to church in the morning
- Go out for lunch
- Go to cybercafes to play games, go shopping, go play pool, hang out in someone's house
- Go to Chiang Kai Shek Chinese School to play basketball
- Go drink some coffee, eat some ice cream... well, some kind of snack
- Go shopping again, or to play pool, back to play basketball, or something listed or not done earlier in the day
- Go home
The past Sunday 08/09 was indeed another typical Sunday that I haven't really experienced in the last two years. Before I left for Vancouver, I was completely used to these Sundays.... I never thought I'd miss its normality!!
So what'd we do....
I went to Church in the morning...
Then fAtTy picked me up at noon and we went to eat at 榮門, a Korean-Chinese 小吃店 with my favorite Korean-Chinese dishes.... we ordered 一盤炸雞翅, 一盤韓式糖醋肉, and a 榨醬麵. Later David came and we ordered an extra Jiang-Pon (韓式辣海鮮麵... 麵可是店裡的山東老闆親自做的!). And then later, Herman, Jose, and Marcos joined us as well.
So afterwards we decided to go to Galeria Bonita, a tiny shopping area with beautiful architecture..... we took some photos, then went to another shopping mall called Shopping del Sol. There Oscar and Felipe came to find us as well, and we went stayed there walkin' around and such until 3 pm.
Then we went to CKS (Chinese School)..... the guys played basketball, and the girls decided to burn some calories too! So.... fAtTy, me, Lucia, Chenny, Yen, and Katty played some 3 on 3 basketball^^ Man haven't played for such a long time, I sure missed it!
Since we burned a few calories, we decided to add some back^^ :D And so we went to an ice cream store called 4D. I was still coughing a bit so I drank some cappucchino..... Yen had an ice capp, Chin had a huge strawberry sundae, and Herman had a meat burger with fries and a 草莓牛奶.
Then we went back to CKS..... hung out, listened to music, made fun of each other... you know, the usual ;)
I got home around 6 pm, and that was the end of our typical Sunday......

But that didn't end for me ;) 中華會館曹理事長 invited lots of 華僑 to Paulista Grill (Brazilian BBQ) to have some dinner.... so I went with my mom and met faTtY there and had a good time ;)
Then I went home... for real this time ;) and faTtY went back to her home in another town in Paraguay, called Encarnacion.
And I really do have pictures.... I'll upload them in Vancouver... just these took me the whole day and a half to upload :|

1. Ciudad del Este + Brazil 4-day trip proved to be .... interesting.
能夠跟從小一起長大的朋友在一起 很幸福, 而且以後不知道還有沒有這種機會了...
不過, 路途上發生了一些我並不認同, 甚至很討厭的事, 讓我對這次的出遊有點失望.
We went shopping, eating, hanging out, clubbing, singing, 什麼都有.
本來不爽的事都過去了, 但當我發現了更多有關聯的事, 我才知道自己做錯了一個 對我很重要 的決定.
Oh well.... it's in the past now.
只能說: Don't EVER make a decision for the sake of apologizing -- honesty with yourself is too important to be ignored.
2. I've been really sick.... it started with a cold that was getting better but then I caught another one again, and this time it got worse and worse.
I've been sick for nearly two weeks now, and even caused a side effect to occur: an eye infection.
唉.... 真難受.
3. 看了一部不怎樣的連續劇, 情定愛情海.....
雖然結局跟鬥魚有幾分相似, 可是, 真的 太太太超級無敵肉麻的說...
我唯一喜歡的就是 它提醒我 報複之心有多恐怖......
真的足夠讓人變的冷血, 無情... 什麼事都做得出來.
還是別有仇恨吧, 也別亂惹人...... :S

One Month in Paraguay
UCLA - June 28, 2004... Very different from UBC- more sophisticated, yet it feels a bit distant... Heh I'm just jealous, that's probably what it is ;)
I've left Vancouver for a month now- it feels weird to be away!! I find it really funny to feel this way, considering the fact that I've only been there for less than 2 years.
My stay in Paraguay has proven to be well worth it :) I missed home alot in Vancouver, and being able to see my mom, Chin, and all my friends has been awesome. I've also been learning tennis and playing lots of pingpong :) Um..... oh and I'm taking piano classes and spanish classes for fun too^^
Other than that........ um, what other ideas do we have for the LE ice breaker, does anyone in Paraguay want to sponsor the mook *ahem*, Chin can you send me those bracelet pictures? does anyone want to join UBCTTC (table tennis club) and if so, do you wanna join the Public Relations Department? :) When do I need to finish the CSSS daytimer :S And macromedia's connection to ftp servers is sooooo slow and all.... I can't update websites.
That's.... my rant....~~ :) All's well here!!!!
BTW.... thank you thank you fatty for your bday present........ I loved loved loved it!!^^
P.S. I will have pictures of Paraguay posted once they are sent to me cuz my digital camera ..... sucks.

My birthday in Paraguay was a simple one... I went to an opening party at an exposition the day before my birthday, and afterwards me and my friends went to a pub near my house to celebrate my birthday at midnight... I went home shortly after loh (mom's around, so I have a tight curfew hehe^^). The next day I did the same stuff as usual, but went out for dinner with my mom and another family. On top of that, I really enjoyed reading my e-cards and mails from everyone... 好溫馨 :)

June 22 - Thx Mark for getting up so early and moving the remainder of my house to Jerry's (thx for lettin' me store all my 財產 in your house!!)! And I definitely owe ya one for takin' us to the airport and all... thanks so much!!
We got to LA around 2 pm and Shalynn (an awesome girl I've known ever since I was 3 years old) & her mom (my mom's best friend) picked us up from the airport. We waited for my mom to arrive around 4:30 pm and then went for dinner at a Shanghai restaurant, then went for bubble tea at a Tapioca Express.
Jerry checked-in to Lincoln Plaza Hotel, and I went with my mom to a family's house to stay for the remaining week. The family had been old friends from Paraguay that had recently immigrated to the States...
June 23 - Shalynn picked me up at 9 am, picked Jerry up, and we went to have breakfast, then set out to Disneyland! We took about 40 minutes just trying to get on the number 5 southbound, but we ended up in Disney still laughin' happily :D
Disney was crazy... or not really... I should say, we were crazy. Ya know Janice's annoying laughter in Friends? Ya, we were imitating that, and much more. Anyway, we went thru most of the rides without much line up, so that was good :)
By the end of the day, we just went to all the stores and tried on their weird, wacky, and tacky merchandise and took pictures like crazy, as you'll see from the pictures... We went to dinner with another friend from Paraguay at Rainforest Cafe before we called it quits for that day.
June 24 - I got to Lincoln Plaza Hotel at 9 am and went to breakfast with Jerry. We took the bus without knowin' much about downtown LA, and headed to downtown LA :| We heard 3rd street was pretty famous, and well, the map showed a third street in the downtown area, so hey, it's not too hard to get there.... or is it? We got off the bus and.... er.... it looked more like downtown Paraguay in my opinion... so we asked around and of course, the famous 3rd street is the one in Santa Monica, not downtown LA.... *stare* ...
ya so we walked around, hoping to find interesting stuff there.... after about... say... an hour or so of walking in the wrong directions several times and "shopping" at Macy's for about 10 minutes, we decided, screw it, let's go to universal city... so we took the metro red line (it's the skytrain) and went. Good thing there weren't any mistakes this time, and we were glad we went^^
Citywalk is really cool, lotsa weird and wacky stores to look at :) We decided to go into Universal Studios even tho it was 2 pm and the park closed at 6 pm. First thing we went to was Van Helsing's movie sets that were supposed to be "scary"... but hey, Disney's haunted mansion was nothing, so this can't be too bad either... and then some character from the movie jumped out and scared the HELL outta me and after that, I never let go of Jerry's shirt sleeve and hide behind him, laughing and frightened outta my mind the whole way out. :D That was pretty funny.....
Other than that, other things that stood out for me were Spiderman Rocks (the story of spiderman in the form of a rock musical with spiderman actually doing pretty awesome acrobatics) and WaterWorld (a show with actual jet-ski action and pyrotechnics, and lots of water sprayin' at ya if you are in the right zone!) Unfortunately, the revenge of the mummy wasn't open until June 25, so we missed the ride by a day :( Anyway, we were able to finish most of the rides since the line-ups were decent :)
We finished the day off with dinner at Hard Rock Cafe, where we ordered WAY TOO MUCH FOOD.... hrc was really cool tho, it had collections of many rock stars' guitars, leather jackets, etc... metallica, lennon, and pink floyd's acoustic guitars, and the rolling stones' car were all there, just to name a few.... but ya... that was another fun fun day ;)
June 25 - Jerry left for Cornell, and I stayed home catchin' up with email and spent the day chatting on msn and with my mom.

June 26 - In the afternoon, Shalynn and her brother David and their mom picked me and my mom up, and we headed out to Laguna Beach (heard Santa Monica was way too dirty so we went to Laguna instead).
It was tonz of fun, playing in the sand with long jeans and socks and running shoes...... *ahem*........ well..... I took off my socks and shoes and pulled up my pants but still, it was all wet by the time we were tired of playin'..... since I was gonna stay over at their house, I had pajama pants with me.... Good thing they are plain, navy pants, so I changed into them and went to dinner in pajama pants :)
We had a good dinner and then went to Shalynn's house... their home is beautiful, with tonz and tonz of paintings, pottery, and other artwork. I took some pictures, but since my camera sucks, you can't really tell how beautiful it really was...
June 27 - We went to church together and then to lunch with Shalynn's younger cousins. Haven't hung out with kids for a long time - I forgot how much fun it was!!! We went back to Shalynn's house for a while, then went back to the family we were staying with originally. They dropped off my mom and took me to old town pasadina and walked around and did one of my favorite things..... EAT ICE CREAM!!!! :) hehe, except it was actually frozen yogurt, but it was still very very good (i hope I dun get 劈 by Goddess...). I bought me a shirt from Guess.... it was....... $13 bucks! heh^^ good deal in my opinion.... anyway, I went home for dinner afterwards, and that was my day.
June 28 - Sara, another friend from PAraguay that immigrated to LA, picked me up at 10 am to go to Rodeo Colorado outdoor shopping mall at old town pasadina (again) .... we just sat at starbucks for quite a few hours just chatting and stuff, then shopped around and I bought a tank top ;)
Later she took me home and David (Shalynn's bro) picked me up to go to Shalynn's apartment outside of UCLA... I got to see UCLA and boy, it is really pretty ;) Later we also went to beverly hills and on rodeo drive to visit all my 只能看不能買的明牌店...... i've never felt so financially-deprived in my life :D hehehe^^
We ate at Cheesecake Factory (DELICIOUSSSSS), caught up with everything we've missed, and then finally my mom phoned me to get my butt home.
June 29 - I went out with my mom and our hosts to yam cha... the bus system in LA is CRAZY.... if you miss a bus, you get to wait about.... uh... an hour for the next bus? >< >< >< it was crazy... but that was exactly how I spent that afternoon.....
later in the evening I went out with Sara again, with her friends, to OLD TOWN PASADINA (again) to have dinner.... hehe oh well, at least I know one area in LA well :D
June 30 - Crazy LAX airport.... we were in line for half an hour to check in, and 2 hours to screen our luggage.... omg it was crazy.... On the plane tho, I slept for a while, then started watching movies.... I watched like... 3 or 4 before I fell asleep again :) But yes, that was my LA week :) :)

Yay..... I'm finally in Paraguay, and my gosh, it's winter but it's as hot as Vancouver rite now :(
I counted the amount of time I was flying..... approximates: Van to LA is 2.5 hrs, LA to Brazil is 11.5 hrs, and Brazil to Paraguay is 2 hrs. So..... That's a total of 16 hours WITHOUT TRANSIT/WAITING TIME...... omg, craziness.
I've got weird photos and some LA updates, so stay tuned! :D

These couple of days were HECTIC and CONFUSING...... Last week was my battle with the cs310 project, and my two final exams on friday..... Up until yesterday was my battle with my packing and moving outta dorm and to LA/PY. (Thx guys for helping me move!!) Finally I'm in LA now........ YAY!!!!

I watched Harry Potter 3 today.... despite the fact that lots of important parts of the book were cut out, I think it was filmed really really well. Shouldn't say much about the story, but when a person started watching him/herself in the past, I thought they did an amazing job making it look realistic.

想想原來最常跟我們有爭執的人，
竟然都是跟我們最親密的人，
而能夠跟我們發生爭執的人也對我們有一定的瞭解，
所以有人常說『吵架』也是一種溝通，而願意跟你吵架的人，
才是真正想瞭解你的人。
有時候我們與人發生爭執時會說『算了』或者『不說了』，
這兩句話其實都是殺傷力很強的話，
代表著你不想把你的想法跟他說，
不想讓對方瞭解你，
也代表你們的感情會停留在原地。
有時兩個人爭執，忽然聽到了一句話『我是為你好』，
在感情的世界裡，每個人都很自私，
有人常會對你說『我是為你好』，
這其實是很不負責任的說法，
因為我們會把自己的觀念加諸在別人身上。
為他人決定一些事，但是再想想，對對方來說，
這個方法真的好嗎？
你為他決定了事情，但是要負責的人卻是他，
這是很不公平的，
唯有他自己才能決定什麼是對自己最好，
若是錯誤的決定也才不會有埋怨，也才能對自己負責。
『通常願意留下來跟你爭吵的人，才是真正愛你的人。』
之前聽到陶子在節目中說了一句話"每個人天生就是不一樣"，
這句話讓我領悟了很多事。
因為不一樣，自然而然每個人所看的所想的也不會相同，
不要怪別人不夠懂你換個立場，
其實我們也不敢說自己有多了解他人，
"無聲"是一種無形的、最遠的距離。
若能從吵架中表達出自己的想法，
總比大家把話悶在心裡都不說出來的好，
但千萬要避免在衝動時說出傷害對方的言語，
有些話~一旦說出口就很難收回了。

No time for chinese typing today, so I'll make it short and sweet and in English:
1. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARK!! I believe most people who have just met you probably find you 冷酷冷酷的. But hey dude, you're one changed man, thx for being an awesome friend!! And thanks for bearing with my frantic SOS shouts with regards to cs~ Peace Out!
2. Yesterday was a crazy day. Started finishing up my cs310 project at about 3 am, but because I kept uploading images to the webpage I was designing, I exceeded the data transfer limit and it stopped letting me do anything for an hour. So I thought meh, what the heck I'm gonna get some sleep then. After an hour I got back up to work and then I fell asleep at around 9:30 am. By the time I woke up again it was 11:30 am, and I wasn't even near done. I had volunteering at 1:15 pm so I frantically tried to finish everything, but in the end my lab partner had to finish up for me (sorry!). By the time he'd finished everything it was already 5 pm.... and I had to go over to CICSR to hand in the hard copy. GEES! And today......... I have an assignment due at 1 pm...... oh crap.
2. Volunteering was crazy as well- I trained a new volunteer again, but I couldn't even really keep my eyes open, let alone concentrate on what is necessary for her to know. I couldn't keep track of my train of thought! Anyway, there was this crazy lady from the psychiatry department that came to buy stuff... she just went nuts- she told me to reserve like 4 handbags, a bunch of little boxes and slippers and books and lotion, and a stuffed dinosaur. Like, what can I say? I had to wait until she was satisfied, after I took down her name and phone number and address in order to place everything on "reserve" for EIGHT days, and finally left...... then I had to place everything back on the shelves. :S Pretty funny tho.

美國長大的他, 英文瓜瓜叫, 一點 accent 都沒有. 他非常優秀- MIT 畢業後還參與 Shrek 的 production. 現在他在 UBC 的 Computer Graphics and Software Engineering Research Teams 裡工作. 他是個非常風趣的教授, 偶爾還會耍耍冷哦, 蠻親切的.
11:20 下課, 我因為上一節 CS322 沒有去上, 幫我抄筆記的好人就花了大概十分鐘跟我說一下他寫了些什麼. By the time we were done talking, everyone had already left, except the professor. 我同學也走了, 就剩我跟老師在收東西.
Small Excerpt: 我上個禮拜五問老師的 Office Hours 是什麼時候因為 Course Outline 上面寫著 TBA, 不過他說 Office Hours will be by appointment, 叫我要事先 Email 他. 因為我一直沒有時間唸書也就沒有時間 generate my list of questions to ask him, 我就沒有跟他月時間. 前天上課之後他還特地過來問我有沒有要去問他問題, 我很不好意思的說我還需要一點時間.
Anyway, 今天不例外. 他再次的問我什麼時候要去問他 my questions 啊, 我只好老實的跟他講我還沒唸, 不過我肯定這個 weekend 會把該唸的唸完, 在 Email 他. 他跟我說不急啊, 只要是先跟他說就好了. 之後他看起來沒有在趕時間, 我就繼續跟他聊天. 問他是美國人嗎, 還是從哪裡移民過去的. 他說他是美國人, 在 Long Island, NY 長大的. But ... 我的 goal is to find out where he is from ethnically.... I believe he is Taiwanese, but then again, he could be Singaporean or Cantonese or who knows.... Anyway, 我們又談到 MIT, 學費, quality of education, 等等. 我有用著很崇拜的態度問起有關 the Shrek production, 他也用著輕鬆的態度跟我說了一些他們負責的部份. 最後我們還說了一些有關走他的行業的 skill requirements, 看來我還是別作夢吧.
今天可不是拖著疲憊的身子走出教室- 根本就是笑容滿面, 一路想著教授走回 Fairview, 把統一布丁當成中飯吃, 又一路犯著花痴衝去 CS322.
We watched Shrek 2 tonight.... it is absolutely the BEST movie I've seen in the longest time, the funniest thing....... CHECK IT OUT EVERYONE!!!! The music playing is a dedication to the movie ;)

今天就算是我第一次真正的 Post 吧!
THANK YOU STEVEN 幫我搬家!! 對了, 之前我要 PO 一些有關我去維多利亞的 Experience 可是我的電腦跟我作對, 一直到今天才修好 (謝謝 Paul!!!). 所以呢, 我那些還是改天再 PO 吧!

今天有點想家.
七個小時的課好累, 再加上那麼多的功課, 忙得我連氣都喘不過來. 之前玩得那麼開心好像心有點收不回來. 每堂課打瞌睡, 還沒下課就想著等一下要去哪裡. 我得加油吧, 學業還是擺第一!
我去 Mark, Eddy, Ben, & Jerry 的課參一腳, 他們老師在中場休息時放 Pop Music, 好酷哦!
我常常在想未來. 你真的覺得一輩子的打拼可以穩穩當當的走上成功之路嗎? 那麼, 可憐的他, 又該怎麼辦呢? 只能說, 他真的很不幸運. 有時候真的好懊惱, 自己的未來長的是圓是扁我都不知道, 只能夠努力的追尋理想. 往往會有著一些半途而廢的念頭, 可是又不甘心放棄生命美好的那一面. 那種定不下心的感覺真不好受, 但種種的壓力和未療的傷口簡直快把我逼瘋了.
可不可以賜給我力量, 只要一點就好?
