People always talk about how stupid Harry Potter can be, but it can be a nice exit away from harsh reality. To me, all fiction play the same role. But what is special about this magical world is its connection to the muggle world - our world. It doesn't try to be our world.

Who says Harry Potter can't be real? I'll bet those creatures inside their UFOs circling the earth under an invisibility shield are reading Harry Potter with great interest. Or perhaps, great fear brews in their UFO world of being discovered by humans who take Harry Potter and the possibility of another world out there seriously.

I am merely explaining why I love to read Harry Potter books - they are quite descriptive and provide a good amount of space for imagination to run loose in the scenery it paints and the foreshadowing it articulates. So what if I don't have magical abilities to use a wand. At least I can read it and imagine it.

But I am not a person who can really hear it, not from words alone.

Many Harry Potter book fans hate the movies, but why hate it if it builds a whole new dimension to the magical world? Sound is a realm that isn't usually derived from writing, and in movies, the audio perspective upgrades my imagination of the book to a 4D-magical world. I'll agree that many of the best scenes are left out, a pity indeed, but you'll have to give credit to the filmed ones. I compare the imagery painted in the movies to those I paint in my head. Keep the best ones, throw out the rest. They are definitely not failures.

This article isn't about persuading anyone to agree that Harry Potter is worth reading. But do give all types of fiction a chance to be a part of your imagination. Aren't you sometimes tired of the muggle world?
